Not "similar to." The actual bundles, unmodified: the same info.plist, the same script filters, the same environment variables your scripts already read, and the same data directory the copy you have been using for three years has been writing to.
Drop the folder in
Footman reads the bundle, lists its keywords, and then leaves it alone until you use it.
The first time a workflow would run a script, Footman shows you the script itself, not a summary of it. Nothing executes on import. Your license key and your stored credentials are never put into the environment a workflow's scripts can read.
Both of Alfred's script filter output formats are supported, so the workflows written years ago and never touched since work too.

Do I have to keep paying?
No. Footman is a one-time purchase and the version you buy is yours to keep. Updates are included for twelve months. After that it carries on working exactly as it did; a new purchase is only if you want the newer builds.
What does the $49 add?
Every future update, included. It is the same application with the same features on the day you buy it: the difference is only what happens after the first twelve months. Nothing else to buy after it.
Will my Alfred workflows actually run?
Yes, and unmodified. Footman reads Alfred's own bundle format, sets the environment variables its scripts expect, and speaks both Script Filter output formats. Importing copies your workflows rather than moving or editing them, so Alfred is exactly as you left it.
Do I need an account?
No. There is no sign-up, no email required to run it, and no license server contacted when you launch it. A license key is checked on this Mac, offline, against a public key inside the application.
What does the AI cost?
Nothing from us. Paste a key from Anthropic, OpenAI or Google and Footman spends it, or point it at Ollama or LM Studio and nothing leaves your Mac at all. We do not resell tokens, and with no key configured AI does not appear in the interface.
Is the free version a trial?
No. It does not expire, it does not count down, and it does not nag. Launching, finding files, arithmetic, conversions, web searches and system commands stay free for as long as you use them.
What leaves my Mac?
Four things at most, and they are listed together in one place in Settings: the update check, a one-time license check when you paste a key, the currency rates behind conversions, and your own AI provider once you add a key. The last two are off until you turn them on. There is no analytics, no crash reporting and nothing anonymized.
How many Macs does one license cover?
Every Mac signed in to your Apple ID. The first activation ties the key to that Apple ID, once, and every Mac on it is covered; the License page in Settings releases it if you move to a different Apple ID. Footman runs on macOS 15 and later, on Apple Silicon and Intel. It is sold through Paddle, which is the seller of record and handles the tax.
